Purple Bridge under construction

Rolling out the purple carpet

When 7,000 people are coming over, you pull out all the stops. For a Defence Construction Canada team at CFB Wainwright, that includes building a new bridge almost a year ahead of schedule and in the middle of winter.

A/B Jetty project at CFB Esquimalt turns up historical finds

A stone cutting tool some 7,500 years old. A doughnut-shaped "sinker" that once weighed down a First Nations fishing net. Lighters emblazoned with naval ship's badges, ships' cutlery to glass bottles and brass uniform buttons.

DCC now accepting electronic bid security as e-procurement solution expands

With the rollout of the latest phase of its e-procurement solution, DCC is now accepting electronic bids for construction contracts that require bid security. As of August 2016 in the Ontario Region, prime contractors bidding on construction work worth more than $100,000 must submit the required security through an electronic bond or wire transfer.

Jim Paul and Richard Allie

E-procurement champion recognized by industry association

Richard Allie's efforts to bring electronic procurement to DCC paid off in two ways in 2016. DCC introduced e-bidding in March. And, in June, the Canadian Institute for Procurement and Material Management honoured Allie with the Project Management Award.
